March, 2008

Aaron and I went down the SF for the weekend to visit with our friends the Franceses. On Saturday we headed off to the Arboreteum in Golden Gate Park. What a cool place. I've gone past it many times but had yet to go in.
There are approximately 5 rooms with different climates and features. In the left wing they had a 'special feature' room where all of the plants and foliage were arranged in color. There were also some ( i'm guessing) retired carousel animals to liven the place up. We left some pits in their mouths.
But my favorite room was in the right rings where there was a huge pool of water about three feet high with lotus leaves and little diaromas created by some artist. It seemed like a good spot to put some wisdom pits. I hope they don't get mad....
On Sunday we hopped on MUNI to the SF Zoo. It's been along time since I had been there. Either they have done a lot of remodeling or I have a poor memory (probably the latter) but I really liked the exhibits. It's so open and somewhat interactive. I left a few around the exhibits. Hope no animals mistaken them for food. Here is a picture of Sergio exchanging gazes with the silverback gorilla inches away from on of the wisdom pits.
Good times!!

I was on my way to cover up my birds for the night with a towel I bought on someone else's honeymoon.
9:00
I was inside and our house was cold and dry. Outside, the plastic parachute from a toy soldier that had bombed down from the sky over a year ago was flapping in the wind...breezy.
I am solid and squishy in parts. My breasts have started drooping and am nostalgic for my once perky glands. My best feature is my ability to change perspectives.
I was wearing black.
I was with my birds.

I read the slip and went to myspace like you told me too.
I enjoyed finding the pit after you all had left. It is always a bit melancholy when good friends depart after a great time. I love the laughter that I find with you all. The pit left behind reminded me of how serendipitous you are, a trait that I love about you.
If I could impart public wisdom it would be:
Get a goldfish.
Name it.
Throw it a birthday party.
And love it like you have never loved anything else.

Kisses.

I've watched these pits grow, not into a tree but into a project. If you have a red one cherish it like a rare beany baby. I really like being a hider. I like the new gold ones the best. They seem most like a treasure to me. I like to put them in the public library. Maybe it helps remind folks that the books are treasures. I also like to put them in shoes and coat pockets when clothes are on a coat rack. I then feel like a reverse pickpocket. I should find a coat check person and give them a bag. Sometimes I leave them with the tip for a waitress. When I put them places where kids will find them I feel like Boo Radley. My nature is to pick things up off the ground. I'm constantly finding great things. My pockets are always have something in them like a pretty bottle cap or a puzzle piece or a broken barrette. It feels like good karma to me to put new things out there for other people to find. Soon I will travel and I can't wait to bring the pits out farther than I ever have before.

I discovered my wisdom pit on my desk in central Manhattan. I contemplated the message inside "Odd jobs make odd moments count". I am not too sure what the weather is like, but the markets are fairing very well following a Fed rate cut. I had looked forward to hiding my wisdom pit but it was re-possessed by the hider before I could do so.

haha 4 years later and I find this pit in my room in an old jewlery box while preparing to move out into my first apartment. I did read what the note said the day I found it at my school (Sacramento State University) and even though I was curious about it, I set it aside because I was late for my next class, hence forgotten for a few years. :P I found it in a sort of newpaper stand. Pretty sunny mid-day. I do remember when I found and read it, I knew right then and there that it was meant to be found and I can't lie, I felt special that it was me of all people walking right by it, who found it lol. Mine says, "Repetition avoids confusion". I took it as some sort of study mantra, of course. No pictures available, unfortunately. If I could impart any wisdom to the public..... I guess it would be that, that which makes us perfect makes us imperfect, and that which makes us imperfect makes us perfect. Complicated, I know. But really think about it. Anyway, I'm glad I finally came around to actually doing this. :) Sorry about the late imput, better late than never?
Take care
